Consul General Bourne hosted a reception at the Consulate on 30 October 2014, following the Scotland-Ireland Archaeological Collaboration Seminar held in Edinburgh Castle earlier that day. It was attended by those working in archaeology and related areas, including the academic, public, and private sectors, and was organised by Dr Rebecca Jones of Historic Scotland.
The occasion offered an enjoyable and useful opportunity for those involved in archaeological research, management, and tourism in Scotland and on the island of Ireland to identify common ground and look at new ways of collaborating.
CG Bourne welcomed and congratulated those present on their ongoing and new collaborative efforts, and Ian Walford, CEO of Historic Scotland, spoke to underline the value of archaeological cooperation.
The seminar was in advance of the European Association of Archaeologists Conference in Glasgow in 2015, which will include a theme on Celtic Connections.
