An evening with Mark O'Neill, Author & Journalist
Join us for a special evening with Mark O'Neill, a Hong Kong based journalist & author who will discuss and read from his latest book, The Miraculous History of China's Two Palace Museums, about China's two most famous museums, located in Beijing (Palace Museum, in the Forbidden City) and Taipei (National Palace Museum). In the book, Mark "details the treacherous history of how some of China's most precious artifacts were rescued from the invading Japanese imperial army in the 1930s and later transported to Taiwan, and the powerful symbolism of the museums".
Born in London in 1950 and educated at New College, oxford University, Mark has worked in Asia since 1978, in Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, China and Japan, for BBC, Reuters, the South China Morning Post and other media. Since 2006, he has lived in Hong Kong. He is the author of four other books, including The Second Tang Dynasty: The 12 Sons of Fragrant Mountain Who Changed China and Frederick: The Life of My Missionary Grandfather in Manchuria.
