'Technology Focus' event with Irish Chamber of Commerce, HK

The Consulate General of Ireland in Hong Kong works closely with the Irish Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong to promote stronger business links with Ireland. As part of a new initiative for 2016, the Consulate and Chamber will collaborate on a number of events titled 'Technology Focus'. The first event will feature the Irishmen behind RISE, Asia's largest start-up event.

RISE will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 31- June 2, 2016. Organised by the team behind the annual Web Summit, the event was held for the first time in 2015 attracting 5,000 attendees, including 300 investors, 225 media, 525 startups and 140 speakers. Speakers included Stripe Co-founder John Collison, 9Gag Co-founder Ray Chan, 500 Startups Founder Dave McClure and Amazon CTO Werner Vogels.

In 2016 RISE will bring together speakers from some of the world’s leading tech firms & startups. Given Ireland’s active interest in the start-up world (as the Chamber members heard directly from Dublin Start-Up Commissioner Niamh Bushnell back in October when she visited Hong Kong on a programme hosted by the Consul General), we are very much looking forward to hearing from two of the key figures behind RISE, John O’ Reilly (TCD Alumnus) & Jimmy McGann (UCD Alumnus).
