Irish cricket team visits Canberra for pre-World Cup matches
After their successful qualification for the Cricket World Cup 2015, the Ireland cricket team are on an acclimatisation tour of Australia and New Zealand. Ambassador White welcomed the squad to the Irish Embassy on 4 October ahead of their matches against the ACT Comets.
Ireland is playing 8 matches in Australia and New Zealand in their month-long tour. After games against Queensland and the ACT Comets, the Ireland team now depart for New Zealand where they will play a further four matches, taking on Northern Districts and a New Zealand XI in Hamilton, before the tour concludes with games against Canterbury and Otago in Christchurch.
The Embassy is looking forward to welcoming the squad back to Canberra in March 2015 for their World Cup match against South Africa.
