Brooklyn movie night with the Embassy
Guests of the Embassy were treated to a screening of the Oscar nominated film Brooklyn
Ambassador Tim Harrington hosted approximately 40 guests at a screening of the Oscar nominated film Brooklyn on the evening of 3 March 2016 in Zagreb. The guests included members of the Irish community in Croatia, the diplomatic corps and, of course, Croatian friends of the Embassy. After the film, guests joined Ambassador Harrington at a reception.
Many guests remarked that the story of Eilis Lacey -- of her immigration to Brooklyn and her ties to Ireland -- was one that they were very familiar with given that Croatians, much like the Irish, have a large emigrant community in America and other countries around the world where they too cherish their heritage.
The Embassy will be involved in more Irish film initiatives this year.
