Primark was founded as Penney’s in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969. Today it is part of Associated British Foods Group, operating in over 250 stores worldwide including in eight countries in Europe. Primark’s first US store is opening in Boston in 2015. Primark offers a diverse range of products, from baby and childrenswear, to womens, mens, homeware, accessories, beauty products and confectionery.
The management of Primark is Dublin-based and is located at the original Penney’s site in Mary Street. Primark currently employs some 51,000 people worldwide including approximately 5,000 in Germany.
Primark is just one of many Irish companies operating successfully in Germany. Approximately 60 Irish firms have investments in Germany, employing some 14,000 staff across Germany.
Primark will open its next store in Germany in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz in summer 2014.
