Irish Community in Indonesia
There is a small but active Irish community in Indonesia. See below for details.
The Irish community in Indonesia is relatively new. At present, we estimate that there are some 150 or so Irish citizens living there. Most are in Jakarta or Denpasar, but they can be found in every province right across the breadth of the country. Quite a number are married to Indonesians and have settled down permanently here.
Other longer-term Irish residents tend to work for multinational companies, especially in the financial, food and beverage, hotel and transportation industries. Others are teachers or working for international organisations or embassies, or operate independently as consultants. Many Irish citizens have arrived here by way of Australia or Singapore, and maintain links and contacts throughout the region, not just with Ireland.

The St. Patrick's society in Jakarta organises social and charitable events, including the annual ball, and can be contacted at the link below. An informal network is also planned for Bali. The Jakarta GAA team is organised out of Murphy's Irish Pub in Kemang.
