- Social Security - before leaving Ireland - The Form E111 is no longer valid. You should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before leaving Ireland. The EHIC is not a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Luxembourg nationals.
Social Security - after your move to Luxembourg - Once employed in Luxembourg you will receive a European Health Insurance Card from Luxembourg. You should have this card with you at all times and especially if you are travelling to other EU countries as medical treatment there will only be covered if you have a valid European Health Insurance Card. Please note that these cards do expire (date of expiry on the back of the card). If out of date a new card can be ordered online
