Irish films at the 19th Busan International Film Festival(BIFF) 2 – 11 Oct 2014

With an audience of over 200,000 the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is undoubtedly one of Asia’s and Korea’s premier film events. Last year saw the BIFF feature 11 Irish films in a programme titled ‘Rogues, Rebels and Romantics: A Season of Irish Cinema’.

Continuing on Ireland’s representation at the BIFF, three Irish films will be shown in 2014. A horror film called ‘the Canal’, John Boorman’s ‘Queen and Country’ and Ken Loach’s ‘Jimmy’s Hall’.

Although Ken Loach is a renowned UK director both the story and its stars include Irish talent and were filmed on location in Ireland.

The Canal, Queen and Country, and Jimmy’s Hall all received support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

The 19th Busan International will take place from 02 October to 11 October at 7 Theatres across the city.
