Seoul Namsan Tower goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day

Seoul’s N-Tower this year joined a host of iconic world famous buildings and landmarks in going green for St. Patrick’s Day, from dusk until midnight on the 17 March.

St. Patrick’s Day is a world-wide celebration of Irish culture and heritage. Infamous for the colour green, Ireland is often referred to as the Emerald isle because of the different shades of green that can be found through the lush Irish country side. The greening initiative draws on this association and endeavours to highlight Ireland’s culture and heritage and its dynamic future through illuminating famous landmarks across the world in the colour green.

N-Tower joined a number of other famous landmarks in turning green such as the Pyramids in Egypt, the ‘Welcome’ sign in Las Vegas, the Sydney Opera House, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the London Eye, Table Mountain in South Africa, Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building in New York, the Prince’s Palace in Monaco, the Allianz Arena and Odeonsplatz in Munich, the Sky Tower in New Zealand and the Cibeles Palace and fountain in Madrid.

The ‘Greening’ of N-Tower is also a celebration of the growing links between Ireland and Korea and the Embassy of Ireland would like to take the opportunity to thank Seoul Metropolitan Government for their enthusiasm for the project and for ensuring the ‘greening of Namsan tower’ could happen in 2014
