Presentation of Presidential Distinguished Service Award to Fr PJ McGlinchey
Ambassador O'Donoghue travelled to Jeju Island to present the Presidential Distinguished Service Award to Fr PJ McGlinchey. Fr McGlinchey had been unable to travel to Ireland for the award ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin on 30th October 2014.
The event in Jeju was attended by over 100 people from the local community and also by a range of local government leaders and other dignitaries. The Ambassador's highlighted the economic and social contribution Fr McGlinchey made to the community on Jeju and the role he and the Columban Order have played for over 60 years in Korea. This Award was an important recognition of Fr McGlinchey's contribution and that strand of the relationship between Ireland and Korea.
