Seoul's Iconic Landmarks Turn Green for St Patrick's

This year 'Seoul N Tower' and 'Some Sevit' (Three shining Islands) on the river Han will join a host of iconic buildings throughout the world by turning green between dusk and midnight on Tuesday 17 March.

The Embassy of Ireland in collaboration with Seoul Metropolitan Government is proud to announce that the iconic Seoul N Tower perched on Namsan Mountain in the very heart of the city will go green again this St Patrick’s day for a second year running.

The ‘Some Sevit’ is a new addition to the Greening initiative in Seoul and is composed of three floating islands in the Han River adjacent to Banpo bridge. The three islands are modelled on different phases of a blooming flower, the facades of which light up at night with a dazzling array of LED lights. The islands have appeared in the recent blockbuster “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the US reality program “America’s Next Top Model” and are home to a multitude of public amenities.

The Grand Hyatt Hotel will join the Tourism Irelands annual Global Greening for the first time as well as being the host of the St Patrick’s Day reception.

Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening, sees a host of major landmarks and iconic sites around the world illuminated in green for St Patrick’s Day and is symbolic of the great friendship that exists between Ireland and so many countries around the world. The Greening Initiative gives the Embassy network an invaluable opportunity to deepen existing friendships, strengthen awareness of Ireland and our rich heritage, and forge new ties.
