President of the Slovak Republic visits Nano Nagle Centre
H.E. Mr. Andrej Kiska, President of the Slovak Republic visited the Nano Nagle Centre in Spišské Podhradie and was welcomed by the Centre's Director, Sr. Anne McNamara and her colleagues Sr. Louise Eustace, Sr. Immaculate Power, Sr. Rosamma Varkey Nelluvelil, Sr. Rupa Lourdhusamy and by the Ambassador of Ireland to the Slovak Republic, H.E. Ms. Anne-Marie Callan.
The Nano Nagle Centre in Spišské Podhradie was visited by the President of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Mr. Andrej Kiska. The Nano Nagle Centre is an educational centre welcoming children from the nearby Roma Community and providing pre-school education, a wide range of after-school programmes for school-going children as well as educational courses for their parents. The work of the Nano Nagle Centre, a recipient of the European Roma Spirit Award Certificate of Merit 2016, supports the integration of the children into Slovak Schools and helps them to succeed in education. During his visit, the President of the Slovak Republic was given a tour of the centre, enjoyed music and dance performances by the children and spent time interacting with the children and speaking with their parents and teachers.
