Welcome to the Embassy of Ireland Ukraine website. We hope you will use it as a means of keeping in touch with events in Ireland, and with Ireland-related developments in Ukraine.
It is my honour to be Ireland’s first resident Ambassador to Ukraine. My team and I are privileged to live in this wonderful historic city of Kyiv. We look forward in the coming months to exploring other parts of this beautiful and fascinating country as we build business, educational and cultural links across Ukraine.
Ireland enjoys a warm and positive bilateral relationship with Ukraine. We are fully committed to deepening relations with Ukraine and to serving the needs of Irish citizens. I see so many connections between our two peoples and also see much untapped potential in our working together and sharing experiences.
We support the community of Irish people who are resident, or who may be travelling in Ukraine, as well as Irish individuals, businesses, public bodies and educational and cultural institutions which are engaged in activities in Ukraine.
Continued visits and communication between our political systems are vital in furthering our relationship in the political sphere, as well as in trade and investment, food and agriculture, in education, research and culture.
Ukraine’s economy and that of Ireland complement each other. I look forward to ensuring that we continue to grow our trade and forging even closer and deeper engagement in the future. Both of our peoples pay particular attention to education and ensuring that we and our families are well equipped for the modern international workforce. Emigration has been the reality for many of our people. Ukrainian and Irish people have found opportunities overseas and some have returned home.
Our countries both have complex, layered histories, and a respect for tradition but also a wish to not stand still and instead innovate and transform. Each has a tapestry of rich cultural heritages on which to draw upon and sustain us. Through the work of the Embassy, we wish to deepen and bring to the surface those personal and professional connections and contributions.
