Visit of Ambassador O’Brien to Frankfurt

31 May 2022We were delighted to welcome Ambassador O'Brien to Frankfurt on 11 May. The Ambassador attended and spoke at a lunch organised by the Consulate for some 40 members of the Frankfurt Irish community. Guests included leaders of the Irish Business Network, the German-Irish Business and Lawyers Association, Frankfurt GAA, representatives of the state agencies and a number of members of the ECB Irish community.
Ambassador O’Brien also met with members of the Tourism Ireland team in Frankfurt and Irish citizen Eileen O'Sullivan, Dezernentin for Digitalisation, Citizens' Services, Participation and EU opportunities in the Frankfurt City Government.
The Ambassador attended the Data Centre World trade fair in Frankfurt, at the invitation of Enterprise Ireland. He visited the booths of six Irish companies active in the area of high-tech construction – Whitewater, Entropic, Fireblock, SUIR Engineering, Ethos and Crown Roofing – to learn about the services they provide, ranging from clean air and water solutions, to provision of fire doors, roofing and flooring for data centres.
Later that evening, Ambassador O'Brien delivered remarks at a networking reception hosted by Enterprise Ireland for the Irish companies and their German partners.
On 12 May, Ambassador O'Brien and Consul General Anne-Marie Flynn met with Heike Raab, State Secretary for Europe in Rhineland-Palatinate. During the meeting, they discussed relations between Ireland and Rhineland-Palatinate, common European issues including Brexit and the Northern Ireland Protocol, as well as the Ukraine war.
