Please note that KRW fees are regularly updated to keep in line with the Euro fees charged by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Ireland.

Acknowledgment of an Irish Police Certificate of Character (For those renewing a working visa in Korea only)

If you are currently working in Korea (mainly on E Categories - Teaching English Visa) you are required to submit a Criminal Background Check (called 'Police Certificate of Character' in Ireland) when you renew your visa. Korean authorities also require that this Police Certificate is endorsed with the Embassy stamp.

After you receive your original Police Certificate of Character from An Garda Síochána in Ireland, the Embassy in Seoul can acknowledge your Police Certificate. This means that we will place the stamp 'Original seen' and also the Embassy stamp and the signature of a diplomat on the document.

You need to visit the Embassy in person with the original Irish Police Certificate and your passport so that the Embassy can verify all the information. You also need to make an appointment in advance by phone or e-mail. Alternatively you can post your original passport and Police Certificate to the Embassy;- Embassy of Ireland Seoul, Leema Building. 13F, 42, Jong-ro 1-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul 110-755

Please bear in mind this service is only provided for those who are already working in Korea on appropriate working visas when they are renewing their Korean visa.

In addition the Embassy cannot accommodate your application for securing the Police Certificate. Information on how to process an application for the certificate is available on the Citizens Information website.

Fee: if apply in person – KRW56,000 / if apply by post – KRW59,000
