18 September 2018The sixth Africa Ireland Economic Forum will take place on 11 October 2018 in the Convention Centre, Dublin. It will build on the success of previous Forums, bringing together business people and thought leaders from Europe's most dynamic economy with those from the world's most dynamic continent. The Forum is organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade together with the African Embassies in Ireland.
The Forum, which has been running since 2011, is the centrepiece of Ireland’s economic engagement with the countries of Africa. It provides a unique opportunity to bring businesses, policy-makers and influencers together, to share experiences and best practices, with the aim of building long-lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships.
This year’s Forum will focus on strengthening trade links in the agri-foods sector. Irish agri-food exports to Africa have increased by 28% in the last two years, contributing to an ever deepening Irish export and investment footprint on the continent. The agri-food sector is Ireland's largest indigenous industry, and Irish companies are expanding their horizons, exploring new markets, including in Africa.
Top level political leaders and senior business figures from both Ireland and Africa will participate in the Forum, including the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D.
