WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organisation

Ireland is a Member State of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), a specialised agency of the United Nations. WIPO is dedicated to developing a balanced and accessible international intellectual property (IP) system worldwide, one that rewards creativity, stimulates innovation, and contributes to economic development.

WIPO’s stakeholders include not just its 185 Member States, but also some 250 inter-Governmental Organisations, non-Governmental organisations, and representatives of civil society and industry groups.

In practical terms Ireland participates in WIPO as part of the European Union and is represented at WIPO by the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the UN in Geneva.
