27 March 201810th April 1998, the Northern Irish Good Friday Peace Agreement was signed.
The Agreement is the cornerstone of peace and stability for Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. It brought to an end thirty years of conflict and killing. It laid a basis for a peaceful society in Northern Ireland - a society based on consent, peaceful politics, democratic institutions, reconciliation and co-operation. The Good Friday Agreement is our precious inheritance and our immovable foundation for future relationships.
On this the 20th Anniversary of the Agreement, you are cordially invited to a screening of a film at the Embassy followed by an expert dialogue which explores the background to the Agreement, the Northern Ireland Conflict from 1972 to 1998, and how peace was achieved through the Good Friday Agreement of 10 April 1998.

- Screening of a Film about Nobel Prize winner John Hume, exploring his decades-long campaign to secure peace in Northern Ireland. The film's duration is 45 minutes.
- Followed by an expert dialogue with H.E. Mr. Tom Hanney, Ambassador of Ireland and Univ. Doz. Dr. Finbarr McLoughlin, Institut für Geschichte der Universität Wien.
